Batch Fryers
PPM Batch Fryer Consistent Results, Every Time
For more than 30 years, PPM Technologies has engineered batch frying systems that help food processors produce consistent, high-quality fried snack products, run after run. If you’re scaling up production or optimizing an existing line, a PPM batch fryer is built to meet the demands of your operation.
Our systems combine precise process control, reliable oil management, and sanitary construction to reduce operating costs while supporting dependable performance across your production line.
The Smarter Way To Fry is with BatchWright™
The BatchWright™ system produces uniformly fried kettle-style potato chips and other root snack products at 620–650 lbs./hour. From precise slice feeding to direct-fired heating, automated stirring, multi-stage oil filtration, and a protective fryer hood, every component is engineered to maximize consistency, protect oil quality, and lower your operating costs.

Batch Fryers: Giving You Consistent Output For a Better Product
Greater Product Control
Batch frying allows you to set and replicate exact frying curves for each product, giving you control over cook time, temperature, and texture. Produce consistent quality across different SKUs without retooling the entire line.
Superior Oil Management
Because each batch is cooked in a contained environment, oil exposure is more controlled. Paired with multi-stage filtration, batch frying systems significantly reduce oil degradation, protecting product taste, appearance, and shelf life while lowering oil costs over time.
Flexibility for Diverse Product Lines
Frying profiles can be adjusted between runs, making it easy to produce different products (including kettle-style chips and root snacks) on the same system.
Easier Cleaning and Sanitation
The stop-and-clean nature of batch production allows for thorough washdowns between runs, supporting food safety compliance and reducing contamination risk.
Scalable for Your Operation
Whether you’re running a single line or expanding capacity, batch frying systems can be configured to match your production goals and integrated into a broader turnkey line that includes conveying, seasoning, and coating systems.
Frequently Asked Questions
The BatchWright system is a very high-output batch frying machine capable of producing kettle-style potato chips and other root snack products at 620–650 lbs./hour, which makes it a powerful choice if you need reliable, large-scale production without sacrificing quality.
The BatchWright is frying equipment engineered for kettle-style potato chips and root snack foods. Unlike our continuous fryers, the batch frying process gives you greater control over cook time and texture (this makes it ideal for specialty and artisan-style snacks). For questions, contact us.
Yes. The Slice Feed System is equipped with customer-preferred FAM or Urschel slicers, both of which support many different cut styles and thicknesses.
Oil quality is managed through multiple systems working together. Hot oil is continuously cycled through a centrifugal pre-filter that removes fines down to 75 microns, followed by a pressure filter that removes fines down to 5–10 microns. An internal sediment removal system extracts sunken fines from within the fryer, while a demister captures oil at the fryer stack.
These oil filtration systems work together to reduce oil degradation, protect taste, and extend the oil life, lowering your overall oil usage and your operating costs.
Oil change frequency depends on the product you’re frying, your production volume, and filtration configuration. The BatchWright’s multi-stage oil filtration systems can significantly extend oil life by continuously removing fines and limiting oxygen exposure through the fryer hood’s steam barrier.
Our batch fryer uses a direct-fired immersion tube heating element submerged within the oil bed, achieving up to 85% efficiency. This design minimizes piping complexity, reduces the energy needed to reach and maintain frying temperatures, and helps prevent overheating — lowering energy consumption and operating costs compared to conventional electric fryers.
Our batch fryers support fast, thorough cleaning with very minimal downtime. The auto-lift hood raises automatically for safe access, and a built-in clean-in-place spray system handles hood cleaning without disassembly.
The single serpentine immersion tube features wider spacing for easier access, and the continuous sediment removal system reduces the buildup that can often make cleaning more difficult.
Yes. A clean-in-place spray system is built directly into the fryer hood, and the overall design reflects our commitment to supporting modern food safety and sanitation demands across the food industry. The equipment is built for washdown, inspection, and daily sanitation, all key features for any food processing operation.
Yes. The modulating burner is fully controllable via HMI, so you can set and replicate precise temperature control curves for different products. This level of control, combined with automatic feeding via the Slice Feed System, helps your product stay consistent in quality, batch after batch.
We always help our customers with the installation process, including equipment setup, line integration, and operator training. With 30+ years of engineering batch frying systems for food processors, our team works directly with your operation so that the BatchWright is configured for your product, process, and your space.
